Weight loss thoughts
- Apr 16th 2012
Spring’s here and bathing suit season’s sneaking up at high speed, this is the time of year I hear from people desperate to lose weight quickly.
I hear them, it’s hot out there and the more clothing on just makes it worse, but here’s the thing: Gaining a significant amount of weight takes quite some time and so will losing it.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I’m telling you the truth. Sure you can starve, take pills and do all sorts of other risky things that are seriously bad for your brain and body to drop pounds quickly, but it’s only going to be a temporary fix. Quick weight loss leads to quicker weight gain. It’s proven and chances are you’ll gain back even more.
So what’s a person to do? I think the first thing is to have realistic goals, and don’t look to people in Hollywood for advice. Those folk are loaded and can afford having a personal trainer and chef come to them on a daily basis, they’re also into extreme methods like stomach bands and liposuction, not to mention Photoshop.
Any surgical solution comes with lots of risks including death. Did you know that according to the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons more people in the U.S. die due to Liposuction surgery than any other cosmetic surgery? Yeah, they don’t mention that on TV or in the magazines, they also leave out the parts about scarring or losing feeling in parts of the body. People think they’ll look like Barbie after lipo, but many times they look more like Frankenstein.
If you’re seriously thinking about going the surgical route, you need to watch Mob Wives, episode 1 season 2 called ‘New Year, New War’. Renee decides to have a bunch of surgical procedures done and there’s complications. If you’re too squeamish to handle this, then you may want to rethink your plan, denial isn’t a great safety method. There are good surgeons out there but I don’t understand putting yourself at risk of death because you’re too lazy to lose weight the old fashioned way.
The pills can be addictive as well as cause major health problems, and as for the powders? Besides chlorophyll, I don’t recommend them either.
Ya’ know what’s sexy? Healthy. Healthy doesn’t always come in a 120 pound wrapper, there’s loads of thick people that look great mainly because they eat well and have loads of confidence. Smiling is also majorly sexy, as is dressing in clothing that is flattering. If you’re curvy, let your curves shine! Whatever you look like, appreciate it and show off what you’ve got.
If you’re in need to lose weight, do it slowly and consistently. Start by switching your drinks to tap or filtered water with lemon in it. That alone will take away lots of calories and save you some money. If you’re into diet foods and drinks, kill them and eat real food.
I’m talking about foods that can go bad over time. Work on buying less packaged foods, most of them are chemical cesspits anyway. Those diet programs that send you the food? If you stick to it you’ll lose weight and the second you stop it all comes back on. I’ve seen it many times and it pisses me off because that stuff’s expensive and it doesn’t work. Well, it does, but it doesn’t teach how to keep it off and frankly all the meals are like airplane food, yick.
If you need to lose weight know that you can do it, it’s just going to take some time and effort. However if you make the time and take the effort, you’ll be healthier and more likely to achieve your goal.
