The perfect summer facial mask
- Jul 17th 2012
This heat is really something, it seems the second I go outside I’m ready to run back in. The sun and humidity has a field day on my complexion, I get greasy, sweaty and blackheads appear.
I prefer to keep away from most store bought facial masks and prefer to make my own, they’re cheaper, fresher and in my opinion, work fantastically.
Here’s my Summer Cooler happy face mask recipe, ready?
- 1 organic cucumber, cooled off in the fridge
(I told you I like to keep it simple.)
- Take the cucumber and either grate it using the smaller grating holes and saving the juice, or chop it up and throw it in your blender. Hit high for about 20 seconds or until it’s smooth.
- Carefully place this all over your face including eye area. This tends to get messy, so you may want to lie on a towel on your back and put a layer of cheesecloth over the mask once it’s on your face to keep it in place.
- Once you feel it warm up to close to body temperature, lightly rinse off with cold water and enjoy the results. This usually takes anywhere between 5-15 minutes, sit back, close your eyes and relax.
This masque is a little astringent so it’ll tighten pores. It’ll also tighten under eye bags and even help to reduce them. Best thing the masque does? It cools you down big time while making you gorgeous. Can’t beat that or the price.
You can do your entire body with cucumber, it feels great and you’ll be refreshed. I recommend it for people with body acne, it can really help.
Eating cucumber cools you down too, so add it to your summer meals, good stuff.
