Real maple syrup is where it’s at

Whenever I go out for breakfast I judge the place on a few things, one being if they have real maple syrup. The fake stuff is totally gross, basically the first 2 ingredients in a top brand are corn syrup and high-fructose corn syrup, followed by artificial colors and preservatives. I can’t go into the taste, it’s super sweet ickkiness with some sticky for texture. Barf. It leaves me with a coated tongue and feeling ill, so not worth it.

Real maple syrup is actually good for you, it contains 54 beneficial compounds, some not found anywhere else in nature. Here’s an article from Science Daily dot com that explains this in far more detail, it’s called “54 Beneficial Compounds Found in Pure Maple Syrup.” The information comes from a study from the University of Rhode Island, check the bottom of the article if you’d like a link to the original study.

If you already use real maple syrup you get points. If you use grade B, you get even more points as there are more minerals in the latter. Yeah it’s pricey but it’s real food and good for you so I consider it to be worth it. Also, you only need to use a little of the real stuff versus drowning your breakfast food in artificial garbage, the flavor is concentrated.

If you haven’t tasted real maple syrup in a while do your self a favor and get a bottle. You’ll be amazed at the flavor and it’s good for you! Can’t beat that.
