Want to be happy?

Happiness is something we all go after. For some, success means happiness, for others, it’s about possessions. I believe the only thing that will make you happy is appreciating and giving thanks for what you already have.

Our culture is all about striving, to be better, to have more, etc, but the problem is when we’re doing that we forget what we have so far.

I have a routine that I’d like to share, I love it and it helps me to keep life in perspective. I like to do it while I walk, but whatever works for you is best.   I start with either “I’m grateful for” or “Thank you for” and then whatever I think comes after. For example- I’m grateful for my legs for working and being strong, I’m grateful for my feet for holding me up, I’m grateful for my home, my family, my friends, whatever it is that you’re happy to have already, just make sure you start every statement with either “thank you” or “I’m grateful for.” Say it out loud. No need to yell, just speak loud enough for yourself to hear.

I like to do it for at least 5 minutes whenever I’m down or need a reminder, it always helps to put everything back into perspective. Even if you’ve got 99 problems, this will help you to remember there are things out there to appreciate.

This has helped me tremendously, I hope it does for you too.
