Great book: The Carnivore’s Manifesto
- Jun 19th 2014
I just finished a fantastic book, it’s called The Carnivore’s Manifesto. This is an important read as much of it is about sustainability and meat production in the U.S.
Written by Patrick Martins with Mike Edison, Patrick is the owner of Heritage Foods USA and founder of Slow Food USA. He knows excellent, healthy meat and the responsibilities involved in producing it. Mike is a brilliant and hilarious writer, the two of them have produced a home run.
I love this book, it’s smart, funny and truly makes sense. Patrick agrees factory farms are horrible and need to change. As chef Mark Ladner says,
“Patrick Martins is the shepherd of domesticated-animal rights.”
We all know factory farms are evil, they torture animals and produce awful, cheap flavorless meat. The Carnivore’s Manifesto discusses that and how we can improve the lives of our meat-producing animals to make them healthier and tastier for us.
This is a book about our food system and Patrick isn’t afraid to say exactly what he thinks and feels should be mentioned. He is a rebel, a revolutionary when it comes to food because he’s doing the right things. By doing so, he’s helping to improve our health and the planet’s. My wish is one day people realize the price that comes with cheap meat, this book explains a lot of it.
Thank you Patrick Martins and Mike Edison for explaining the truth in an awesome way. You guys rock! I sincerely hope this book is a best-seller, this information is really important to the future of food.
