Recipe: Cooling summer smoothie

Yup, Summer’s officially coming in at high speed, this drink will wake you up, keep you hydrated and give you some good nutrients to start your day. It’s also delicious, enjoy!

You’ll need:

  • 1/4 of a large cucumber
  • 3-5 kale leaves
  • A banana
  • Plain, unsweetened rice or almond milk
  • A few springs of mint
  • Some ice

Take everything and put it into your blender, hit high and let it go until smooth. Drink up within 10 minutes to get all the nutrients, vitamin C starts to lose potency after that time. Extra points for organic or grown with minimal pesticides purchased from the farmer’s market.

Smoothies are a great way to start your day, they’re my favorite breakfast when it’s hot out. Loads of nutrients without tons of garbage or calories? Sounds good to me.
