Turmeric is the new kale

In case you haven’t noticed, turmeric is everywhere these days. I’ve seen it in drinks, snacks and teas. The good news is it’s a powerful anti-inflammatory so it’s really good for you, the bad news is those products are expensive.

But fret not! You can make your own turmeric drinks for just pennies, this is my favorite.

Hot Turmeric Lemonade-

  1. Heat up some water to just before boiling or boil and let cool for a few minutes.
  2. Take your favorite big mug and add the following: the juice from 1/2 of a lemon, about a half teaspoon of turmeric, a little honey (you can also add a little fresh ginger if you like).
  3. Mix them well and then add boiling water. Stir really well and drink up.

I drink this when my hands get sore and I get almost immediate relief, you can actually feel the heat pull out of the joints. If you can find fresh turmeric go for it, it’s much milder and it’s also a lovely color.

Warning- Use a dark colored mug, turmeric can stain. It’s nothing offensive, just a little orange-yellow but if you love a teacup or certain mug you may want to use another.

Turmeric is great stuff, there’s no need to pay a small fortune for it.
