OK, so no snow

So much for Snowmageddon 2015, there’s maybe 4 inches of snow out there and the wind is fierce. Everyone’s got a day off, so what to do?

Here’s a few ideas to add something healthy into your day.

  • Got plain yogurt? Or good, raw honey? You can take either and slather it on your face for a great mask, avocado works too! Mash, apply liberally, let sit for about 15-20 minutes and rinse off with warm water and a washcloth, instant facial!
  • Grab those veggies in the drawer, chop ‘em up & throw them into your crockpot or a big pot on the stove. Add some water, some salt and herbs ¬†and let it all turn into soup while you hang out and enjoy the day. Make enough for leftovers, you can always freeze some.
  • Take a nice, long bath. Add your favorite things to the water and sit back and let the stress come right off. I love epsom salt baths, they do a world of good. When you’re ready to get out, grab your favorite scrubby item or a washcloth and rub your skin all over before rinsing in either lukewarm or cool water. Feels great and makes your skin glow.
  • Take 5 minutes and just relax and stretch. Breathe while you’re at it to give some oxygen to your body.
  • Got a great book? Got off the computer and get cozy, added points for a cup of herbal tea.
  • Go through your herbs, condiments and spices, toss the ones that no longer smell or you can’t remember buying, also those jars that have 1 serving you’ll never get to? Toss it. (Granted, cleaning’s not that fun but it’s really nice when it’s done. Make sure to keep a list of that spices and herbs need replacing before you need them. Also, buy in small quantities so they get used up before they get old. I date the jars with a sharpie, it makes keeping track way easier.)
  • Give yourself time to connect with an old friend, if they’re in the North East chances are they’re not working. Even jotting a note on a postcard is far more touching and personal than a text or email.

It’s the little things we do for ourselves that make all the difference, don’t let a day slip by without doing a little something good for you, even if it’s only drinking an extra glass of water. You count and so do your actions, do something nice for yourself today.
