You might remember my neighbor Jayme, she’s the creator of the killer rice pudding recipe (click here to get it ), this time she’s sharing her secrets for  truly amazing applesauce.

I can’t wait to make more of this stuff, it was incredible. Her method makes the consistency more like a pudding, and I love that there’s no sugar added. It’s way more elegant than the stuff you buy at the market, and it’s so easy how can you resist?

You’ll need:

  • 3 to 4 lbs of Golden Delicious apples peeled, cored, and quartered (try for organic or local)
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional)

Do this:

  1. Put apples and cinnamon stick into a large pot.
  2. Cook on medium heat so bottom apples start to soften, then stir to rotate apples bring bottom apples on top. Do this about 4-5 times.
  3. Cover, lower heat and let simmer for 20-30 minutes, until apples are very soft.
  4. Remove cinnamon stick and let cool.
  5. Using either a blender or immersion blender, blend apples into a rich thick like pudding.

Serve with anything you can think of or just on it’s own, you’ll love it.

This is my mother in law’s recipe. She makes it with a small amount of apples and makes it every other day. I usually do about 7-10 lbs of apples because we eat it for breakfast. Enjoy it.
